Visitors arriving by car can choose to drive their own vehicle or rent a car, but it\u2019s a good idea to plan ahead to avoid areas with traffic restrictions. Here\u2019s what you need to know about traffic, restricted traffic zones (ZTL), and parking in Parma.<\/strong> <\/p>\n<\/div>

<\/a>How Parma’s Limited Traffic Zone Works<\/h2>\n<\/div>

Parma\u2019s historic center includes several Limited Traffic Zones, designated as ZTL 1, ZTL 2, and ZTL 3,<\/strong> as well as other areas with specific traffic restrictions. Access is also controlled via electronic gates, and whether a vehicle is permitted to enter depends on its category and whether the driver has a permit. The City manages the permit and enforcement system through Infomobility,<\/strong> a company also responsible for managing public parking and mobility-related services. <\/p>\n<\/div>

When driving through the city center, it\u2019s important not to confuse a parking spot near tourist attractions withpermission to drive through Parma\u2019s restricted traffic zone (ZTL)<\/strong>: the presence of a parking space does not automatically mean you\u2019re allowed to reach it by driving down any street. Before setting out, it is therefore advisable to check your route and, above all, verify whether the road you\u2019ve chosen passes through a ZTL. Facilities managed as part of the city\u2019s parking system include, among others, DUS, Fleming, and Lanfranco<\/strong>. The city also lists numerous paid on-street parking areas. <\/p>\n<\/div>

The General Urban Traffic Plan designates various parking zones, each with different hours and rules: before parking your car, you should therefore always check the signs at the location. When visiting the historic center, the most practical option is often to park in an area outside the zones with the strictest restrictions<\/strong> and continue on foot.
