If you choose to return your rental car at Florence Airport in Peretola district, once you reach the airport you will need to follow the road signs pointing to the ‘Autonoleggi’ – ‘Car Rental’ area. Once in front of the car park, you will have to access the area by collecting the ticket at the entrance bar and park in the Locauto stalls. The check-in box for after-hours returns is located in front of the Locauto check-in cabin.
Florence is known all over the world for being the cradle of Renaissance and, before that, the birthplace of writers of the likes of Boccaccio and Dante, who not only shaped modern Italian language but also had the greatest influence over the prose and poetry of the whole Europe up to the furthest limits of the United Kingdom. Strolling down its streets one can immediately get the impression of a city which is endowed with an unparalleled cultural richness: its historic centre, inscribed in the UNESCO World Heritage List, is only a fraction of such inestimable treasure, which is also collected and preserved in many interesting museums such as the Uffizi Gallery, the Bargello art museum and the Gallery of the Academy of Florence. Moreover, in and around the city you can admire beautiful examples of architecture dating back to the Middle Ages up to the 18th century which offer unparalleled views over Florence: the medieval stone bridge of Ponte Vecchio, Piazza Della Signoria, Piazzale Michelangelo in the Oltrarno district and so on. Everywhere you go, you will be greeted by the jolly spirit of Florentines and will get the chance of eating marvellously: we strongly recommend you trying not only the most famous Italian and Tuscan dishes, such as pizza or Florentine steak, but also to relish Florentine specialties such as schiacciata, lampredotto and ribollita among the most popular. This is also a great region for wines so be sure to match your lunch or dinner with a good glass of red!
By renting a car in Florence you will be able to reach any place in and outside the city centre with less stress and to cut on transfer times. Locauto car fleet comprises a wide variety of vehicles that can meet any of your demands, including electric vehicles which are the best if you’re planning to stay a lot in the city (in fact, they will allow you to bypass restricted areas). Locauto has two different rental offices in Florence: one is very close to the main railway station, the other one is right inside Peretola airport; you can either choose to pick up and return your car at the same office or choose different ones depending on what fits your travelling needs better. The Florence-Peretola airport is very well connected to the town center and to the other Tuscan cities. We also advise you to check what vehicles are eligible for smart booking by downloading our free iOs/Android app Locauto Elefast: by booking one of the vehicles marked in orange, you will be able to manage your booking entirely from your smartphone and avoid wasting your time at the airport for practical matters.
Florence city airport is very close to the town center, which you generally will be able to reach in under 15 minutes (depending on the traffic). A three-lanes ring encircles the city center, allowing you to get to most of the main landmarks of the city in a very little time. Traffic can be a little bit more jammed when you get closer to the historic center, which is also comprised in a restricted area: unless you have rented an electric vehicle, you will need to park your car outside it or buy a daily/weekly pass. Feel free to ask our staff at Peretola airport for more information!
