No matter how many getaways you take to Rome, you never seem to experience everything that this city has to offer. This is surely part of its immortal charm and the reason why it enamours Romans themselves at such a deep level. One way to plan your trip to Rome with no regrets could be to pick a theme and stick to it for your vacation time, so to avoid ‘cultural overloads’: for example, if you are landing at Ciampino airport, you may decide to first head to the Appian Way Regional Park, which contains a handful of relics from Ancient Rome, and then move to the area of the Roman Castles, where many other extraordinary archaeological sites are found. Here you can also visit villas formerly belonging to Roman aristocracy and palaces used by popes for religious meditation. Once you are done with the exploration of this green area, you may then go downtown and pay a visit to the landmarks of Ancient Rome, such as the ruins of Coliseum and Roman Forum. The St. Peter’s Basilica and the Pantheon are also not-to-be-missed landmarks you may wish to include in your itinerary: everything depends on what you really wish to see and how long you are staying in Rome.
Hiring a car in Ciampino Airport is the best if you are planning to make daily trips out of the city and explore its beautiful surroundings. In fact, not only Rome city center is rich in cultural inspiration, but there is a lot more to see around it. Whether you are off for a romantic weekend with your fiancée, a family travel or a bachelor’s party with your friends, a rental car will allow you to skip the hustle and bustle of public transport and get the most out of your time in Italy’s capital city. Renting a car in Rome is highly recommended to people who like to plan each detail of their vacation ahead and enjoy avoiding any set back as well as to the ones who love flexible itineraries that can pander to their last-minute diversions and detours. Locauto helps you plan a tailor-made vacation in Rome by offering you a wide range of vehicles that can suit your taste and needs: all-terrain SUVs to go camping with your kids, cheap economy cars to save on refueling, comfy MPVs equipped with sliding doors if you are travelling with physically-impaired people and much more, including electric and hybrid cars. Ciampino airport is much closer to Rome city centre than Fiumicino airport, which is located along the coast. Many low-cost airlines land here, so if you choose this airport as your arrival point you may be able to save some money on your travel. Getting to Rome from Ciampino by car will be very simple, because the airport is located just outside the Greater Ring Road (in Italian, Grande Raccordo Anulare) surrounding the city. If you are headed towards the old city centre, please note that this a restricted area which can only be accessed by the people residing in this area, the Military and shopkeepers: if you are planning to linger here more than one night, we advise you to consider renting an electric vehicle so to be free to enter the restricted area at any time of day and night.
