The eternal allure of Rome never ceases to fascinate people from all around the world, including its inhabitants, who cherish their own hometown above everything. And how could anyone not hold dear such an astounding place like Italy’s capital city? Rome has so much to offer on every level that one could live here for decades and never stop discovering new things: along the banks of river Tiber, the Roman empire, source of such a pervasive influence on the culture of many European countries, was born and thrived for many centuries. Its traces can be found all around the city in near-perfectly preserved buildings and archaeological sites like the Coliseum or the Roman Forum, that shine alongside with Neoclassical palaces and villas. Even outside the most frequently trodden touristic routes and well beyond the city gates, one can found himself or herself soaked in history. For instance, the area around Fiumicino airport – the biggest airport in Italy – thrives on the traces left by Roman empire, while also offering beautiful natural reserves and beaches to chill out and practice sports. Many green areas can in fact be found along the coast near Fiumicino, like the State Natural Reserve of the Roman Coast or, moving a little eastwards, the Park of Roman Castles.
Can Rome be done in a day? As far as we are concerned, the answer is absolutely not. Apart from its archeologic treasures, the one-of-a-kind villas and palaces from many different ages and the innumerable museums which collect stunning pieces of art from all around the world, Rome has a very vibrant, whimsical atmosphere to offer which you may wish to soak up at a leisurely pace. Of course, to do so you both need to have time to spare and be able of getting the most out of it: by hiring a car in Rome, say at Fiumicino airport (where you will probably be landing), you will be able to tailor travelling schedules to your smallest desires and according to your convenience only. Also, if you’re planning to go for some serious shopping, you can store all your shopping bags inside the car and then move straight on to your next destination without stopping by at the hotel to drop everything down. By renting a car at our office in Fiumicino you will be free to plan each step according to your needs, from moment zero up to the final minute of your vacation time and choose the most suitable vehicle for your needs whether you are a solo, family or business traveller.
Fiumicino airport is located right next to a three-lanes fast highway (A91) which will lead you straight to Rome (30 kilometres away eastbound). If you’re heading here from the city centre, you have many options with public transport: shuttle busses and express trains depart every 15 minutes from the main railway stations in Rome (Termini, Tiburtina); if you need to get to another city in Italy after dropping off your car at Fiumicino airport, you can take a fast Frecciargento train to Florence, Venice, Bologna or Padua. Trains for Genoa and Pisa depart from Fiumicino twice a day. If you’re unsure about how to move inside and outside Rome and you don’t have sufficient roaming data allowance, please ask us about equipping your car with a sat nav.
