Founded in 1932 as Littoria, Latina is now a vibrant and ever-growing city, the capital of the province of the same name and a key commercial hub for southern Lazio. Known for its distinctive rationalist architecture, which reflects the historical period during which it was built, Latina offers a unique blend of geometric order and modern design, enriched by green spaces, theaters, museums, and lively squares that host cultural events year-round.
Must-see attractions in the city include the Cambellotti Museum, dedicated to the artist who helped design the city, Palazzo M, a historical landmark of rationalist architecture, and the D’Annunzio Theatre, which hosts performances, concerts, and festivals. Another highlight is the Museum of the Pontine Land, located in the former National Combatants' building, showcasing the reclamation and transformation of the territory through engaging exhibitions.
In addition to its well-organized and service-rich city center, Latina is ideally located near many tourist destinations: the sea is just 15 km away, with resorts like Sabaudia, San Felice Circeo, and Sperlonga, among the most popular on the Lazio coast. Inland, visitors can explore medieval towns like Sermoneta, natural areas such as the Circeo National Park, and the enchanting Garden of Ninfa. Thanks to this variety, Latina is a perfect base for both short stays and longer itineraries around Lazio.
