Inter and Locauto together for “STOP RACISM”

A few days before World Day Against Racism, in remembrance of the 1960 Sharpeville massacre, “Stop Racism,” an event by Inter in the Community in collaboration with Locauto Group, Official Rent-a-Car Partner of the Nerazzurri club, was held today at the Shoah Memorial. Once again this year, Inter, which has always been against all forms of discrimination and inequality, wanted to involve young people in a day of reflection on the issue of racial persecution.

The initiative was attended by youngsters from the Nerazzurri Youth Sector and the Milanese schools that have joined the Io Tifo Positivo project, a project carried out by Inter in collaboration with the City of Milan and the Comunità Nuova association, which aims to combat all expressions of discrimination and racism within the sporting sphere, promoting a proactive culture of sport and its true values.

After a visit to Binario 21, one of the most historically significant sites of the drama of racial hatred, participants were treated to a theatrical monologue by Gianfelice Facchetti.

Welcoming the youngsters who took part in the initiative were Javier Zanetti, Vice President of Inter, Raffaella Tavazza, Vice President of Locauto Group, Roberto Jarach, President of the Shoah Memorial Foundation of Milan, Alberto Bassani and Alessandro Albiero, Community Relations and Partnership Management Supervisor of the Nerazzurri club, respectively.

“Seeing the eyes of these boys get emotional today in front of the tragic story that struck a few years ago even boys their age with the same dreams and hopes in the future, helps us even more to pursue initiatives similar to these. Thanks to the hosting of the Memorial and the support of Locauto Group.” the words of Javier Zanetti during the event.

“Initiatives of this kind that enhance, not only the memory, but also and especially the life of a great coach like Arpad Weisz should not be an exception but a rule,” said Roberto Jarach, president of the Shoah Memorial Foundation of Milan.“Together with Inter, which has believed in this project for the second year in a row, and with Gianfelice Facchetti who, with the language of art and theater, returns to bring the story of a great coach to life, we strongly reaffirm the founding values of a sport, soccer, that we all love: collaboration, respect and teamwork. And it is our duty, especially to the new generations, to create more and more occasions and collective moments in which we reaffirm our convinced rejection of the episodes of xenophobia and racism that we unfortunately still witness on the playing field.”
