Locauto launches green transition in rent-a-car

Milan, Oct. 11, 2021. Locauto is restarting with a concrete commitment to environmental sustainability, choosing to implement simple and measurable actions to improve the environmental performance in terms of CO 2 emissions of its processes and services. In fact, the company has decided to confirm investments in an increasingly young, low-emission fleet: in the coming months, one out of every four vehicles will be powered by hybrid/electric motorization, guaranteeing annual savings of more than 3,227 tons of CO 2 .

Locauto’s green strategy does not stop exclusively at an increasingly efficient and clean fleet, but continues with the dissemination of good practices to raise awareness of environmental sustainability among customers, employees and stakeholders, focusing first and foremost on the urgency of reducing emissions of inert gases harmful to the environment: among the actions taken, the Locauto Group had decided to eliminate the consumption of single-use plastic in its offices in Milan, Cardano al Campo (VA), Trento, Rome and Palermo and to minimize paper documentation by digitizing the entire rental process.

“I have always thought that it is important to seize all the opportunities that present themselves to us, today more than yesterday,” comments Locauto Vice President and CEO Raffaella Tavazza, “contributing to the collective well-being with particular attention to the future of the new generations. We are convinced that the path of ecological transition can also be accomplished in our sector, with gradual but incisive choices, because sustainable development is possible even in the rent-a-car world.”

Small daily gestures, which will make it possible to eliminate more than 50,000 plastic bottles and cups(thus saving 9.6 tons of CO 2 ) by replacing them with purified water dispensers, steel water bottles and compostable cups, reducing annual paper consumption by 2 tons and contributing, again, with a saving of 2.9 tons of carbon dioxide emissions .

This is a path that the company intends to promote and develop over time with new and ambitious projects that know how to combine a quality rental experience with conscious and necessary choices to respect and protect the environment.
