Rent to Arezzo
Halfway between two of the most beloved capitals of central Italy, namely Florence and Perugia, Arezzo is a small medieval jewel that still preserves much of its ancient architectural heritage intact. The city is divided into two parts, the upper and the lower: the former is distinguished by its historic buildings and it is here that the city’s most famous sights are to be found; the latter, on the other hand, is the hub of nightlife as well as shopping, with its stores, boutiques and lively bars. Moving up to the upper part of Arezzo, there are iconic places such as Piazza San Francesco, where the basilica of the same name stands, the cathedral that houses a cycle of frescoes by Piero della Francesca inside.

Moving up toward the upper part of Arezzo, there are iconic places such as Piazza San Francesco, where the basilica of the same name stands, the cathedral that houses a cycle of frescoes by Piero della Francesca inside. Not far from here is the Museum of Modern and Medieval Art, inside which are exhibited the works of a number of artists active in the Middle Ages between Florence, Siena and Perugia, as well as artifacts of various kinds. The city of Arezzo is also linked to the name of Vasari, one of the earliest and most important theorists of Italian architecture: if you have a passion for this subject, you cannot miss a visit to Casa Vasari, the artist’s family residence characterized by majestic and enchanting frescoed rooms. Farther from the center, and to be precise on the top of the Hill of San Donato, in the northeastern part of Arezzo, you can instead walk on the walls of the Medici Fortress: built in the late sixteenth century, once a stronghold of the city, today it is a well-kept public park that offers, from its 300 meters of height, a priceless view of the Arno valley. At its center stands the monument dedicated to the poet Francesco Petrarca, while at Christmas time the park hosts typical markets where you can buy local products as well as creative gifts for your loved ones.
Its decentralized location from the main airports in Tuscany does not make it a favorite destination for tourists, but if you move by car getting to this beautiful medieval city is very easy. At that point, you can move from Arezzo to some of the medieval towns and small villages that are the pride and attraction of the entire region. With Locauto, you can rent a car in Arezzo and many other strategic points in Tuscany so that you can organize your trip with flexibility, without sacrifice or inconvenience. You can also choose to pick up and return your car at different Locauto points so you can better optimize your travel and the time you spend here. In the triangle between Tuscany, Emilia-Romagna and Umbria, there are many stops worth adding to your trip once you pick up your rental car in Arezzo. For nature lovers, the Casentino Forest Park is a happy oasis of peace, full of waterfalls, shady beech forests and small villages of ancient origins. The scenic aspect then triumphs in the Val D’Orcia, a wide hilly area stretching from south of Siena to Mount Amiata and including historic villages such as Pienza and Montalcino, which moreover boast wine and dairy production of ancient tradition and great value; but the Val D’Orcia offers above all, during the months of April and May, a panorama that has no equal: wild mustard plants, sainfoin, and tulips all bloom together giving a breathtaking alternation of yellows, reds, purples and greens as far as the eye can see. The flowering of the Val D’Orcia is a natural spectacle that we therefore advise you not to miss. In addition to this, we recommend a visit to some of the villages near Arezzo, such as Anghiari, a medieval settlement surrounded by imposing walls, or Cortona, also dating back to medieval times: in addition to visiting the town, we recommend a stop at MAEC, the Museum of Etruscan Civilization.
The Arezzo rental office is located in the northern part of the city, just one kilometer from the historic center and one and a half kilometers from the central train station. From there, you can reach us on foot in about 15 minutes or, in half the time, by resorting to the FAMLA line that leaves right from the station. We are also very close to the Arezzo Fairgrounds, so if you are looking for a rental car to attend an event taking place there our car rental is for you.
