Rome has been for centuries a source of infinite wonders for tourists from all over the world, especially its historic centre, where the independent state of Vatican City rises together with its beautiful museums called Musei Vaticani. The Vatican Museums refer to a complex of buildings, exhibits and galleries which comprises all the art pieces collected by popes along the centuries. Aside from the well-known Sistine Chapel, which hosts the most important services of the Papal Calendar and where Michelangelo and Raphael’s frescos can be found, the Museums of Vatican City gather many important religiously-themed artworks from modern and contemporary painters of the likes of De Chirico, Van Gogh and Chagall and also relics dating back to the Egyptian and Etruscan ages. If you have just one day or a weekend to spend in Rome and you are eager to dive deep into Rome’s immense cultural legacy, the Vatican Museums are thus probably the best choice for you. But still, Rome historic centre has a lot more to offer: close by the Vatican City, with its vast, breathtaking square named Piazza San Pietro, many important landmarks can be found, such as Castel Sant’Angelo and the historic districts of Borgo Vittorio and Vittorio Angelico, where you can walk among the finest Renaissance buildings and eat a dishful of pasta at a traditional restaurant. In this same district you can also visit the Presepe Dei Netturbini, an amazing nativity scene built with stones coming from all over the world which reproduces Palestinian houses from 2000 years ago down to the slightest detail.
It is beyond our forces to make an exhaustive list of all the landmarks and museums to be visited in Rome city centre and the Vatican City, but consider that other than the ones mentioned before there are many more things to do and see here, such as visiting the Napoleonic Museum, the San Giovanni De’ Fiorentini Sacred Art Museum and a permanent exhibition dedicated to the works and genius of Leonardo Da Vinci. If you are already scared about the amounts of places you want to go to during the time you will be spending in Rome, consider renting a car from our rental office in Roma Prati, which is very close to the Vatican. Here you can choose to hire any vehicle you like which fits your travelling needs best. Also, if you need to move very big amounts of luggage, for example in case you are relocating or transporting goods for a company in the city centre, we give you the opportunity of renting a van: choose the one you need among small-sized, medium-sized and large vans.
Facing the traffic in Rome is not always very simple, especially if you are not familiar with its streets or the way Italian people drive. In this case, we strongly suggest you to rent a city car and equip it with an up-to-date sat nav so that you can explore the city freely and serenely. Please note also that our Rome Prati office is located on the west side of river Tiber so it can be the perfect starting point for you if you are planning to visit the coast or other provinces north of Rome. By the way, you can check our other car rental offices in Rome and choose the one that fits your plans best.

The Vatican City is a destination for pilgrimages and also the home to the splendid Vatican museums. Here you can visit St. Peter's Basilica and the Sistine Chapel.
It is an architectural complex founded in 1932 for sporting purposes. Located at the base of Mount Mario, it hosts the Stadio Olimpico, a Tennis Stadium and a Swimming Stadium.
Also known as Adrian’s Mausoleum, Castel Sant’Angelo is located between two districts: Borgo and Prati. A fortified hallway called ‘passetto’ links it to the Vatican City.
