Rent a Perugia

The Umbrian capital is a city endowed with many different souls, able to merge and create a true unicum among Italian cities of art. Its charm, unleashed by a combination of medieval, Roman and Etruscan as well as Renaissance architecture, attracts thousands and thousands of visitors each year. However, Perugia, with its ups and downs of alleyways nestled on the rolling Umbrian hills, is also a popular destination for gourmet food and wine tours: it can in fact boast of an excellent production of chocolate, white and black truffles, focaccia and artisanal pasta in a wide variety of formats, and, of course, cured meats and sausages. But that’s not all, because Perugia is much more: it is also a passion for music, for example, and it is here that one of the most important music festivals in all of Italy, Umbria Jazz, is held. So for those who want to combine gastronomy and art, history and entertainment, Perugia is an excellent choice for a weekend trip out of town or as a stop within a larger tour of Umbria and central Italy.

In addition to the attractions of the center of Perugia, such as the Fontana Maggiore, which is its best-known symbol along with the Gothic-style Palazzo dei Priori and the Cathedral of San Lorenzo, also from the medieval period, moving a handful of kilometers from the Umbrian capital is possible to cross many other artistic and natural treasures. Assisi immediately comes to mind, a village of high spiritual and artistic value, capable of instilling a sublime tranquility in the visitor who approaches for the first time the green of the large lawns surrounding the Basilica of St. Francis and its cobblestone streets. Near Perugia there are then numerous other medieval villages, rich in charm and never lacking in gastronomically enticing offerings, and enchanting natural places in which to simply enjoy the beauty of the landscape and the good air: such as Lake Trasimeno and the area surrounding it, characterized among other things by a still very strong presence of historical craft traditions (such as the production of lace, ceramics, iron and copper artifacts and an endless variety of local food and wine products). A drive through Umbria will make clear to you the extraordinary cultural, artistic and natural variety that characterizes this region-a savoir-faire tour that, with the support of a rental car, will prove to be even more fun, simple and tailored exactly to your travel needs. So, turn to the new Locauto office in Perugia to start your journey of discovery on the right foot, with no worries and no inconveniences!

It is possible to reach Perugia either by private car (the distance from Florence and Rome is about 145 and 160 km respectively), or by transport: the railway network connects the Umbrian capital to the rest of Italy both by high-speed and regional trains and buses, while Perugia Sant’Egidio Airport is located a few kilometers from the city center and is served by several low-cost airlines. From here, you can take shuttles to Perugia Central Station, near which our rental point is located. We recommend that you check the active LTZs in the city center before moving here with your car: you can contact our local staff directly to get advice on convenient parking for visiting the center and possibly car models exempt from traffic restrictions.
