It's hard to fully grasp what makes Venice so unique and startling for tourists visiting it for the first time. The history and culture of the city are just a part of its charm, which is also given by its one-of-a-kind dreamy atmosphere: the fog rising from the watery canals, the colourful palaces rising on the greyness of water as if they were floating on it like magical buildings, the hues of the city glowing at sunset, the gondolas passing by quietly - it all adds up to the mystery of Venice, a maze of narrow alleys where you will want to lose yourself as soon as the sun rises until nightfall with no destination in mind at all. Dining in open-air restaurants, enjoying a Spritz in the late afternoon are just some of the joys of staying in the city, but there is also much to see in its surroundings, both in summer and in winter: for instance, the stunning beaches and the islands of the lagoon, the Carnival of Venice, the town of Chioggia and of course bigger cities like Padua or Treviso.
The finest traditional restaurants and natural parks outside Venice are sometimes hard to get to with no car and you we hope you don’t want to waste your one chance to visit them! Hiring a car at Venice airport could be quite useful you are planning to take a peek at the surroundings of the city without relying on public transport. And don’t worry about having to rent a boat to get to Venice city centre: you can use your rental car and park it just outside the old town city centre or in the slightly farther suburb of Mestre. You can then retrieve it once you decide to set out for the surroundings of Venice or travel to any other Italian destination. By renting a car from Locauto in Venice you will also get the chance of returning it to any other office of ours: check our website to see what is the most convenient office for you and don’t forget to book your car in advance so to make sure you get the perfect vehicle, at the best rate, for your vacation time!
Venice Marco Polo Airport is just 13 kilometers away from the city center: to get there, you won’t need more than a 20 minutes’ drive. If you are landing at Treviso airport (second-best airport in the region of Veneto), please consider 30 or 40 additional minutes to get to Venice airport and retrieve your rental car. Once you reach Venice city center, we advise you to park your car at the ‘Tronchetto’ parking, which is the closest to the old town. On your way there, you may wish to make a stop at the San Giuliano Park and soak in the beautiful view of the lagoon while strolling among the trees. Note that some of our vehicles, marked in orange, can be booked via iOs/Android smartphones without checking in at our desks, allowing you to save some time on airport transfers.

Always animated by tourists, the “Ponte di Rialto”, along with “Ponte dei Sospiri”, is the destination of romantic routes in Venice, among the “calli” and “campielli”, along the Canal Grande.
During the Carnival, Venice becomes a huge stage, with the typical and unmistakable Venetian masks: joy, madness, atmospheres of times gone, they no longer have brakes.
Art, economy, western and eastern languages: these are the subjects studied since 1868 in the charming and renowned Venetian University Ca' Foscari.
The "Lido" is the Venice's beach, but if you want to sunbathe and take a dip in the sea not far away there are kilometers of sand, as the beaches of Jesolo, Eraclea Mare, Caorle.
