Rent to Venice

Considered the gateway to Venice by virtue of its location close to the Venetian capital, Mestre is also one of the region’s most important economic hubs. This commercial vocation of its has very ancient roots, so much so that in the Middle Ages the city of Venice had to take it over to limit its dangerous expansion. It was at that time that Mestre and Venice began to weave very close trade relations. Well connected to Venice by rail and surface lines, Mestre is also an undeniably cheaper and, thanks to fewer tourists, quieter place to live than the capital. This does not mean, however, that the town lacks attractions of its own: the nerve center of Mestre is Piazza Ferretto, the most popular spot for tourists and locals alike, who gather there for a spritz or a stroll along the porticoes in the shadow of the Clock Tower, the only remaining vestige of the ancient city walls. Among the most characteristic religious buildings, on the other hand, are the Cathedral of San Lorenzo, which originated in the early Middle Ages but was rebuilt externally in the 18th century, and the Church of San Girolamo, Mestre’s oldest place of worship, Romanesque-Gothic in layout but with Baroque-style remodeling. For those who love the outdoors, then, there is certainly no shortage of green spaces in Mestre: examples include the San Giuliano Park, equipped with bicycle paths and several sports fields, the Osellino Woods, where there are among other things splendid horseback riding trails, and the Villa Franchin Park, which houses a women’s library with an anti-violence center attached.

Mestre is therefore an excellent point of reference for all those who, permanently or for tourism, are looking for a place to stay in Veneto that is quiet, but at the same time not devoid of cultural attractions and entertainment proposals (one among all: the Heineken Jammin Festival previously hosted by the city of Imola has been held here for several years). Of course, for those who work or are on vacation, the fact that Mestre is so close to Venice makes it an ideal point of support for going back and forth from the city: our car rental at Venice Mestre station was born precisely with the idea of offering the possibility for workers and tourists to make these movements without resorting to public transport, but taking advantage of the undeniable comfort of a private vehicle without, however, having to worry about the administrative and maintenance costs associated instead with owning a car. Renting a car in Venice Mestre with Locauto is very simple: booking can be done either online or in person or through a call center, choosing from a wide range of vehicles ranging from electric cars to the SUV segment and thus able to meet every need for comfort, space and luxury. The service, which is open to professionals as well as individuals, is complemented by a rich proposal of rental vans addressed to those who need to transport large quantities of materials to or from Mestre, for example, for a move or for the organization of an event.

The station of Venezia Mestre, where our car rental is located, is inside a no-traffic zone and can be reached in only half an hour by car from Padua; from Mestre, on the other hand, it takes about 35 minutes to reach Tronchetto, the main interchange point for motorists heading to the historic center of the lagoon city. Locauto’s staff in Venice Mestre is at your disposal to show you the easiest way to reach your final destination, be it Venice or other locations in the Veneto region, and to advise you on the most appropriate vehicle for your short- or long-term rental in Mestre.

Locauto Rent is a 100% Italian company, active in the car rental market since the late 1970s. It has a network of rental locations serving Italy’s main airports, largest railway stations, and major cities.

Not to be missed around Venice

Caorle

The Lido is Venice's beach, but if you want to sunbathe and take a dip in the sea, there are miles of sands not far away, such as the famous beaches of Jesolo, Eraclea Mare, or Caorle.

Venice Carnival

At Carnival, Venice becomes a huge stage, with the typical and unmistakable Venetian masks: merriment, madness, atmospheres of bygone times have no brakes.

Ca' Foscari

Art, commerce, Western and Eastern languages-these are the subjects that have been studied since 1868 at Venice's renowned Ca' Foscari University. It is considered the oldest business school in Italy.

Rialto Bridge

Always bustling with tourists, the Rialto Bridge, along with the Bridge of Sighs, is a destination for romantic walks in Venice, among the calli and campielli, going up the Grand Canal.
