Locauto is founded in Milan: the historic icon of the elephant is designed by one of the founding members during a dinner at Pizzeria Transatlantico.

1980
Locauto register the first car, as part of its leasing and car finance business: a Talbot Samba. The first company headquarters is in Via Pisacane 26, in Milan.

1984
Locauto is one of the first Italian companies to offer long-term rental services to corporate customers. The new company headquarters is in Via San Vittore 45, in Milan.

1987
Through a network of local entrepreneurs, Locauto create the "Locautine", satellite companies that bring long-term rental in the main Italian cities. The company cut the milestone of 10,000 customers.

1993
Locauto quit the leasing business to concentrate on the booming market of long-term rentals.

1999
Locauto celebrates its twentieth year of activity: the birthday is celebrated with the first general convention of the group in Paris.

2004
Locauto enters the short-term rental with the Locauto Rent brand. At the end of the year the network counts for 6 rental offices: Catania, Milan Linate, Milan Malpensa, Pisa, Rome Termini and Venice.

2011
After only 8 years, Locauto Rent completes the coverage of the major Italian airports. The growth of short-term rental business is outstanding.

2013
Locauto Rent becomes the Italian partner of the car rental leading company, Enterprise Mobility with a long-term agreement. At the end of the year the company moved to the Milan office in Via Gustavo Fara 39.

2015
After Enterprise Rent-a-Car, the brand portfolio is enriched with the international brands National and Alamo. Rental locations feature a larger and more appealing look.

2016
Elefast is born: Locauto is as one of the first companies in the world to offer digital smart rentals through the App. The company is Official Rent-a-Car of FC Inter and AS Roma. A new commercial office is opened in the capital.

2018
After completing the airport and railway network, Locauto develops the downtown offices and launches the van rental service: Locauto Van.

2020
Locauto launches Smart Check-In, a service that allows the customer to manage the booking and preparation of the rental agreement and to collect the vehicle directly from the car park.

2023
MyLocauto Friends is born, the loyalty program that evolves (growing discounts and benefits) together with the rental habits of each customer since the joining day.
