Rent to Verona
Verona is best known for being the stage for the most troubled love ever, that between Romeo and Juliet, and the war between the Montague and Capulet families recounted by William Shakespeare, to whom, not surprisingly, a major theater festival is dedicated here every summer. All of this contributes to making Verona the perfect destination for a romantic weekend getaway: strolling on the bridges overlooking the Adige River and among the ancient palaces of Via Mazzini, the street that connects Piazza delle Erbe and Piazza Bra, and letting yourself be captivated by the gothic-style Arche Scaligere will only bring a sigh in love. But if you are not traveling as a couple, but rather alone or in a group, Verona still has much to offer you both by day and by night: its world-famous Arena attracts millions of visitors not only for the majestic beauty of its ancient red and pink stones, but also for the many concerts and events it hosts each year. The city is also brimming with extraordinary examples of architecture from a wide variety of historical eras, including the medieval-era Castelvecchio, which includes the not-to-be-missed Museo Civico di Verona inside.

Verona is a great city to base yourself in if you also want to explore the nearby cities of the Veneto region: renting a car at Verona airport is therefore the perfect solution for moving back and forth from your base to the day’s destination, then returning at the end of the day to enjoy the warm sunlight setting over the Romanesque buildings of the city of the Capulets. Among the destinations easily reached from the Verona airport is certainly Soave, a small village perched on a hill where a splendid fortified castle stands and where one of the region’s most celebrated wines is produced: the Soave Wine Route embraces a 50-kilometer route among vineyards, parish churches and castles along which it is possible to visit numerous wineries and combine the tasting of Soave with that of some other local delicacies, such as Monte Veronese cheese, Vialone Nano rice and radicchio veronese. An equally ideal destination for those renting a car at the Verona airport is Villafranca di Verona, which is home to numerous churches of mainly Baroque age and in whose castle many concerts are organized during the summer period. Many other destinations are easily accessible from Verona airport: at the end of this page you will find other useful hints that you can consult before booking your rental car from Locauto in Verona!
Verona’s Valerio Catullo Airport serves numerous domestic and international flights every day, covering much of the traffic in the region and northeastern Italy. Getting there from the city center takes no more than 20 minutes by car; about the same amount of time is needed by public transportation, but keep in mind that shuttles leave about every 20 minutes. From Verona airport it is possible to reach Venice, the furthest point in the region, in less than two hours, while closer are, in the Veneto region, the cities of Vicenza, Padua, and Rovigo, and in Lombardy those of Mantua, Cremona, Bergamo, and Brescia. Regarding traffic in the center of Verona, the access hours to the ZTL are from 10 am to 1:30 pm and from 4 pm to 6 pm from Monday to Friday and from 10 am to 1:30 pm on Saturdays and holidays. If you are staying at a hotel located within the Verona ZTL, however, you can enter the restricted traffic area freely: the hotelier will have to notify the Municipal Police in advance of your license plate number so that they can provide you with accreditation.

If the city itself has a lot to offer tourists from a cultural point of view, the whole territory of the province of Verona is dense with very important attractions, including natural ones. One above all is Lake Garda: on its shores flock not only lovers of water sports such as sailing and kite surfing, but also lovers of wellness and all-round fun, thanks to the presence of thermal sites and water parks perfect for a carefree weekend with family or friends. The Verona and Lake Garda area is also dotted with historically notable monuments such as the Vittoriale degli Italiani or Sirmione Castle, as well as breathtaking nature destinations such as the Marmitte dei Giganti, a lunar-looking canyon dating back more than 130,000 years. A drive around the province of Verona will also give you a chance to sample all the exquisite culinary specialties of these places: we particularly recommend pearà, a dish made from boiled beef with a peppery bread sauce, herring with polenta, and tagliatelle (paparele) with peas and beans, while among the desserts, mandorlato and tiramisu stand out above all. All of course washed down with one of the wines that represent the excellence of the area, for example a Bardolino or a Valpolicella. Then consider renting a car in Verona: whether it is a short or long-term rental, with Locauto you will have access to a wide range of vehicles suitable to meet the most diverse travel needs and you will be able to explore the province of Verona by car without limitations of space, comfort and mileage. Verona Porta Nuova station is a convenient reference point for all travelers arriving from the other provinces of Veneto but also from outside the region: in fact, the main capitals of Lombardy, Trentino and Emilia are well connected with the city by traditional and high-speed railway lines. The station is located outside the restricted traffic zone and can be reached comfortably even by private car; from here you can rejoin the A4 freeway in a very short time, so Locauto in Verona Porta Nuova is what you need if you want to immediately set off towards Lake Garda to the west or the cities of Padua and Venice to the east.
