Rent a Turin
People go to Turin for many different reasons: for art, first and foremost, because the Piedmontese capital is home to some of the most important museums in Italy, including the Egyptian Museum, the Museum of the Italian Risorgimento and the Cinema Museum, as well as some of the best-known examples of Baroque and Art Nouveau architecture in our country, some of which are outside the city (e.g., the Palazzina di Caccia di Stupinigi and the world-famous Reggia di Venaria Reale); but people also go to Turin for the pleasure of good food, to taste dishes prepared with the excellences of local production, including beef, truffles, chocolate and hazelnuts, and to wash them down with one of Piedmont’s many wine labels; then there is the whole entertainment side, because Turin is a vital, lively city, full of events for all tastes, and it is also home to one of Italy’s largest soccer stadiums, a must-see temple for football fans. There is also no shortage of those who come and go from Turin for work, because it is here that many important businesses, institutions and industrial complexes are headquartered, moving professionals from all over Italy who arrive here by train, via high-speed rail lines, or by plane.
For those who are short on time and arrive by plane at Turin airport, renting a car can be a simple and convenient way to get one’s work commitments done without wasting time or making the most of one’s vacation days. The choice of short- or long-term rental will then be particularly valuable if one’s destination is outside the city center, such as the aforementioned Reggia di Venaria Reale, about a half-hour drive from Turin, or one of the other cities in Piedmont. Through the Locauto network, you can count on the availability of a wide variety of car models with which to go and satisfy your specific travel needs: for example, if you are taking bulky samples with you to a business meeting, you can lean toward renting a station wagon or minivan, while a sedan may be right for you if you are in Turin for leisure purposes and have only a small amount of luggage with you. Also keep in mind that when renting you can choose a different office than the one located at the airport to drop off the car, for example, our office in Torino Lingotto (from which you can then reach the city center in no time using the subway).
Over the past two decades, Turin-Caselle Airport has seen a marked increase in passengers from the large urban hubs of central and southern Italy and from some of Europe’s major airports (Barcelona, Paris Charles de Gaulle, London, etc.). The airport complex is located about 16 km north of the Piedmontese capital, to reach it you need about half an hour by car using the Turin-Caselle freeway junction. If you are heading into the city, remember that there is a limited traffic zone in downtown Turin, the boundaries of which we recommend you consult before setting out; you can access the ZTL for free with an electric vehicle (check those available from Locauto!) or at a reduced rate with hybrid and LPG vehicles. The “Environmental Emergency” section of the City of Turin’s website also lists current restrictions on fossil-fueled vehicles.
Locauto Rent is a 100% Italian company, active since the late 1970s in the car rental market. It has a network of rental stations serving the main Italian airports, the largest railway stations and major cities. It also provides a full range of rental services, from short, to medium, to long-term, and an innovative full-self-service digital rental service. The car fleet is top-notch and is among the youngest on the market in terms of average age. Locauto Rent is recognized for affordable, flexible and transparent pricing solutions and service that is both humane and technologically advanced.
The Piedmontese capital is one of the most important cultural, industrial and residential hubs in northern Italy. In fact, the presence of one of the most important universities in our country makes Turin a place of choice for many young students who can enjoy here a city of unique intellectual vivacity, where the cost of living and rents is not as high as, for example, in the capital of Milan or in other Italian cities of art such as Florence and Bologna. Turin’s historic center offers an adequate response to a wide range of needs: as far as shopping is concerned, one encounters there both high-fashion boutiques and small niche stores, as well as markets and used-object stalls. Dining is excellent on all fronts: ranging from historic cafes to student diners, via typical taverns and gourmet restaurants. And while strolling the streets of Turin admiring its statuesque beauty, you can entertain yourself by visiting one of the many exhibitions and museums it hosts, such as the Cinema Museum or the Egyptian Museum. A city full of opportunities, then, both for those who live there and for those who come here on vacation or for a longer weekend of relaxation.
One must then give this city further credit: that of a really well-functioning public transportation network. However, to maintain this standard, subway and streetcar fares are rather high; moreover, public transportation schedules are inadequate for those who, for work or leisure needs, need to return home at times not served by buses or otherwise. On the other hand, maintaining one’s own car, with the costs it entails, can be too costly an expense especially for students and singles and, in general, for those who do not make such frequent use of a car. Renting a car in Turin, therefore, can in many cases be the best solution, allowing you to use the car whenever you need it but without having to bear the often very large costs of insurance, stamp duty and maintenance. With a rental car, you will also be able to move at the pace and times most convenient for you, even late at night, without any apprehension.
Our car rental services in Turin are open to every type of user with a regular driver’s license, and our fleet consists of vehicles from every possible segment, suitable for different needs: from compact hatchbacks, perfect for juggling downtown traffic, to premium station wagons ideal as representative cars, to 9-seater vans for taking group trips, even far from Turin, in the highest comfort. Traffic in the city is heavy but flowing, while Turin’s ZTL extends only along the perimeter of the historic center, in the area between Corso Vittorio Emanuele II, Corso Palestro, Piazza della Repubblica and the Po River. From our office in Lingotto you can quickly merge onto the freeway link road that will reconnect you to the A4 highway towards Milan or the other highways towards the main capitals of Piedmont and the neighboring regions to the north and southwest.
With its majestic elegance, Turin preserves intact the splendor of the Savoy era, visible in the wide avenues bordered by imposing 19th-century palaces. It is a lively and vital city, full of cultural opportunities linked not only to the prestigious museums that form the heart of its identity-among them, the Egyptian Museum, the Cinema Museum, the Royal Museums and the Mole Antonelliana-but also to the many organizations and associations that operate in the area, making Turin a city where you will never really get bored. Strolling or moving by streetcar through the streets of the former capital of Italy, one only has to look up to catch a glimpse, so close that one has the impression of being able to touch it, of the outline of the mountains, which contribute to giving this city a haughty air. But a trip to a typical café in Turin is enough to immediately warm the heart and refresh the eyes: with their opulent 19th-century furnishings, Turin’s best cafés will be able to transport you back to the past between a cup of excellent coffee and pastries made with chocolate, hazelnuts and the other must-have ingredients of Piedmontese pastries. The Valentino Park, on the other hand, offers the opportunity for a break from the city noise while immersed in its picturesque and lush scenery; this is also the perfect place for sports lovers who, by running or walking, can find ever new routes among the park’s intricate mazes. Also unmissable is a stroll along the Po River, whose dark, troubled waters reinforce Turin’s romantic image, making it a city to return to again and again. In the evening head to San Salvario, the neighborhood near Porta Nuova station that is the heart of Turin’s nightlife.
Locauto Torino is a car rental company near Porta Nuova and Corso Francia, a location also easily accessible by public transportation (subway and bus). Our offices in Via Camerana 3B are 50 meters from Porta Nuova station, while parking is located in Via Paolo Sacchi/corso Vittorio Emanuele II: park on the -1 floor in the Locauto-dedicated stalls.
