#LET’SNOTLEONE: LAV and Locauto together for animal rescue

5 March 2021

March 5, 2021 – After a dramatic 2020, difficulties continue for animals and their caregivers. Requests for help with food and veterinary care are increasing due to the economic crisis that is affecting individuals, families and shelters, exacerbated by the ongoing pandemic. On top of that, many still face “quarantines” and travel restrictions necessitated by measures to combat Covid-19.

In order to continue to support all those who care for animals, and not to leave anyone alone, LAV and Locauto announce a new, special collaboration thatcrosses Italy: in Bologna, Oltrepo’ Pavese, Cagliari, Bari, Vibo Valentia, Siracusa, the volunteers of the LAV Local Offices will have at their disposal 6 cars, made available free of charge by the important Italian rental group, already internationally known for being the first company – and so far the only one – to allow transportation with their four-legged friends, also providing all customers with a dedicated kit, “BAUTHEWAY”, to make the journey of the four-legged friends, safe and comfortable.

The cars, bearing the logos of the two entities – LAV and Locauto -will be made available free of charge to the Local Offices of the animal welfare association for the duration of one month, and will be used for interventions dedicated to the care and rescue of animals, food distributions, and where they are most needed.

“Thanks to Locauto’s contribution we will be able to be even closer to the animals and to the people who dedicate care, affection, and energy to them, and who in this period are going through many difficulties, exacerbated by the prolonged pandemic,” comments Gianluca Felicetti, LAV President and adds, “in the cities and provinces affected by the initiative we will have an extra gear and will be able to intervene in a timely manner in a greater number of emergency cases or increased needs, with our network of volunteers. People who are passionate and trained to effectively and safely handle the health requests we receive every day.” “As Locauto we firmly believe in the collaboration with LAV and, as in the past, we have made ourselves completely available to support the volunteer activity in this particular historical moment of the country,” comments Raffaella Tavazza, Vice President of the Locauto Group, “personally I am lucky enough to live with Luna, a four-legged friend who has become part of our family for a few years now, and thanks to her I felt obliged to allow our four-legged friends to travel safely even in rental cars. I have great esteem for LAV and all the volunteers engaged on the front lines in our area.”

The current one between LAV and Locauto, is not the first initiative of collaboration between the two entities, which already last summer had published a guidebook – “4 Zampe a Bordo” – dedicated to traveling with animal friends: a sign of continuity and a unity of purpose that continues, intercepting the sensitivity and needs of millions of citizens, for whom animals are now full members of their families.
