Reaching our rental office at Trieste airport is quite simple: in fact, it will be right in front of you as soon as you exit the Arrivals gate!
Locauto parking is very close to the rental office
Once inside the airport, just follow the signs to the ‘Car Rental’/’Autonoleggi’ area and then look for Locauto signs. All rental cars must be returned to the allocated Locauto parking lot, which is very close to the rental office.
The style and culture of Friuli Venezia Giulia region is probably one you wouldn’t expect to encounter in Italy. This thin stretch of land confining with Slovenia has indeed been influenced by the bordering nations and their civilizations during the course of centuries. While its predominantly Neoclassical architecture has a clearly Italian mark, its culinary tradition is much closer to the one of Slavic countries with some Germanic incursions; squares are a crucial meeting point in cities of the likes of Trieste, the main administrative and cultural centre of the region, where you can find fancy cafés in a Viennese fashion. If you’re planning a trip to Trieste in winter and Bora wind is on the schedule, you can pick one of these to seek refuge from the cold, violent wind and sip down a hot chocolate with whipped cream. Things you can do in Trieste include visiting the Revoltella Museum, a modern art gallery featuring some works from metaphysical painter Giorgio De Chirico and from Giovanni Fattori, one of the leaders of the Macchiaioli group. Trieste Old Town also hosts a magnificent museum of Oriental (mainly Japanese and Chinese) pieces of art, ancient musical instruments and weapons; at the top of this three-story museum you can enjoy a breathtaking view over the city, but the best panorama you can get is definitely from San Giusto Castle, a Medieval fortress clinging on the hill that overlooks Trieste.
Tired with city life? Then expand your travelling schedule by including in it also the surroundings of Trieste. If you get to the city by airplane, renting a car at Trieste airport will give you the freedom of exploring the region as you see fit; the airport is not very far from Trieste central railway station so if you’re arriving by train too (for instance from Venice) you can make a short diversion to the airport to get your car and then reach you next destination. Among the most appreciated landmarks near Trieste airport is Muggia, a Medieval hamlet with a huge fortress-castle and a white-snow Cathedral with a huge rose-window on its façade. If you’re into ancient castles, this entire region is actually just made for you: for instance, the town of Duino hosts a magnificent castle from the 14th century; it clings on a rock covered in trees just in front of the Gulf of Trieste and the view from here is frankly mesmerizing. Talking about the Gulf, don’t forget that the coast near Trieste is rich in hidden pretty little bays where you can go to sunbathe, swim and soak in the beguiling light of the sun setting over the Adriatic sea.
The Trieste - Friuli Venezia Giulia Airport offers flights to and from many cities both in Italy and abroad (mainly Germany, Spain and the UK). It is located in the province of Gorizia, whose namesake town can be reached in about 25 minutes by car. Udine is also very easy to get to: you will just have to take the highway near the airport and drive for about 30 minutes. In a hour’s drive you will get from the airport to Pordenone, which of course has its own castle too. Ask our staff at Locauto rental office in Trieste for more insights on how to reach other destinations in Italy and what is absolutely not to be missed near you!
